ABOUT

This cook book is for you dad. We realise how hard it must be to pick up a skill that has taken us a lifetime to learn. We learnt it at mum's elbow in the kitchen and don't think twice about how we prepare food and keep house. Likewise, there has been a lot of unlearning done too along the way.

It is organised around a central shopping list. You can eat everything on this list. Don't buy anything else. Don't keep any black listed foods in the house. If it is not on the list, don't buy it.

Then, you can chose recipes either by what kind of meal you want to cook, of by what the main ingredient is in the fridge. For example, you can scroll through the breakfast listings to see what you feel like making for that meal. Or, maybe you've been shopping and found some mackerel steaks, so you can go into 'whats in the fridge' section and look under fish to see what you can cook.

All of these recipes have been put together using only the ingredients on your shopping list. We have modified old favourites that mum used to make, and added a few exotic cuisines for you to learn, especially Indian food so you can add turmeric to your cooking.

There is also a page with suggested menus to give you a hand with balancing foods over a week.

If you stick to this religiously, we are certain Mum will respond much better to the treatment. If she doesn't, at least she'll be as healthy in body as she possibly can, which will make her care much easier in the future in terms of continence and treatments for other ailments.

BACKGROUND
The whole industrialised food chain was a new thing to mum and the rest of your generation in the 1960s. I remember when food came to the door - the baker, the milk man, the fruit man and the fish man delivered almost daily.  Supermarkets were only just beginning to open up. Convenience food was unheard of. Mum cooked everything by hand.

There were chooks for eggs and to throw scraps to. We peeled potatoes, shelled peas and washed carrots that still had dirt clinging to them. Nothing was irradiated. Fresh produce was blemished and spotty but free of pesticides and weedkillers, and the chickens may have been skinny, but were not pumped full of GM grain or oestrogen.

As chemicals proliferated so did mum's contact with them. All those poisons under the sink that she used with bare hands - I seldom saw her wear rubber gloves to wash up, or mr sheen the teak, or spray and wipe benches. But it wasn't only in the home. When she did the fruit shop, all that produce now had pesticides on them, fumigated bananas, citrus with waxy silicone based coatings began to appear, You were handling cases of them - she was handling the individual items. Tearing the outer chemical sprayed leaves off Cabbages and lettuce, and caulies, sorting and packing tomatoes - all these were women's work.

She is toxed up over a life time of exposure to these dangerous chemicals.

This cook book is to help you do the single most important thing you can to preserve mum's remaining memory: Detoxify her body and environment. All the supplements, herbal remedies and even the treatment she is having are useless if the root cause of inflammation is not removed. None of it will help without  this radical change in diet.

It won't hurt you either, as it is an anti-inflammatroy diet, and there is evidence to suggest that diabetes is also the result of chronic inflammation.

Here you can learn how to remove all the brain-damaging substances from Mum's diet and from her environment in the hope that the treatments will be help.
